Common Name: Pine Tree (Gymnosperm)
Scientific Name: Pinus insularis



  • The Pine Tree is native to most of the Northern Hemisphere
  • It is an evergreen
  • It is resinous
  • It grows from 3 to 80 meters in height
  • Contains four types of leaves (needles, seed leaves, juvenile leaves, and scale leaves)
  • Both male and female cones grow on the same tree
  • Grow well in acidic soil
  • Pine needles are eaten by some butterflies and moths
  • It is coniferous
  • Seeds are commonly eaten by squirrels and birds
